Developing strategies for the post-2012 climate change negotiations

In December 2009 Copenhagen was the stage for final negotiations about a new global agreement to prevent climate change and to cope with the consequences of climate change. Many details of the post-2012 successor to the Kyoto Protocol still need to be worked out.

This project provided national governments with insight into a range of issues, including:

  • The debate about global emission reduction targets
  • Defining the national shares in a global effort
  • Designing financing measures in countries that use different economic standards
  • Preventing deforestation or other disadvantageous changes in land use

This knowledge enables governments to develop their strategy at the international climate change negotiation table.
