‘Check it out!’ energy-saving programme for schools

Partners from Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Spain and the Netherlands worked together to improve the energy performance of schools and disseminate best practices. The project partners performed Energy Performance Assessments (EPAs) in 90 schools, producing advice on how to improve energy performance. Recommended measures included both technical and organisational changes.

The partners then supported the schools in implementing the advice. The project partners also created a common educational methodology and materials designed to get the pupils and teachers actively involved in the programme by informing them about energy saving and climate change. The experienced gained in this project has been published in a brochure (see below).

Pupils were involved in implementing energy-saving measures through a programme based on a common educational methodology Results were disseminated both by the project partners and by the pupils. A brochure entitled Support model for implementation of energy-saving measures in schools illustrates the barriers at each step and ways to overcome them.
