Pizza Hut UK, a chain of 700 restaurants in the UK, seeks to reduce its energy use and carbon output in a cost-efficient way. For this purpose we provided Pizza Hut with various instruments. We specified new energy-efficient equipment, while listing the energy-saving options for the whole portfolio of restaurants. Along with a new monitoring methodology to keep track of energy performance restaurants, we preformed a trial with ten new technologies. As a result, Pizza Hut is now able to cut their annual energy bill by 5 to 15% and present a greener image.
The main challenge in the project was to come up with an appropriate energy model for all restaurants, without having to visit each individual location. This model has produced realistic energy-savings recommendations. With a strong background in carbon and energy management, we were able to develop an energy model that provides good insight into how to save energy in all of the restaurants in the Pizza Hut portfolio. The model includes a concrete action plan including both technical and organisational measures.
