Princess Amalia Wind Farm

The 120 MW Princess Amalia Wind Farm - a joint development carried out by Eneco Energy and Evelop - is situated 23km off the Dutch west coast. At Ecofys we contributed to the project in the development, construction and operational phases. Since 2008, the wind farm has been fully operational, supplying energy for 125,000 households in the Netherlands.

In the development phase, our wind resource assessments were the basis for project finance and we created an advanced animation, which can be seen on Google Earth. During the construction phase, we carried out inspection work on behalf of the owner on the 60 foundation transition pieces, the wind turbines, and the grid connections.

We also manage the environmental monitoring programme (including birds, benthos, morphology, shipping radar disturbance and visibility from the coast), which will continue for the first five years. And we deliver daily wind power production forecasts to make sure that the supply of electricity to the grid runs smoothly.
